Quick Stockholm Memories Cinnamon rolls to celebrate the weekend!

I learned from the Swedes: Love sweet snacks withyour drink at the local cafe. The cinnamon rolls won me over. A bit smaller than the ones I had in Stockholm, but this quick and easy cinnamon roll recipe will make a great quick snack.

Ingredients
  • 1 can of cresent rolls (for my first try I used the small tin).
  • a good amount of softened butter (I used about 50 gramms)
  • 3-4 table spoons of brown sugar
  • half a table spoon of cinnamon (or maybe a bit more)
  • two teaspoons of nutmeg
  • For topping powdered sugar
You could add raisins to the filling too if you'd like.

Directions
Grease a muffintin with buttter.
In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Roll out the pastry. Cut in two if you're short on space (like me). Pinch together the seams, your not going to use them anyway.
Spread a good layer of butter on the pastry. Cover with the mix of dry ingredients. Be generous.
starting from the short side, Roll up the pastry. Make sure its nice and tight. Cut slices from yor roll. And place them ik the muffin tin. Make sure to dip the first and last slice of your roll in some left sugar mix. Or you can sprinkle over some later.

Put in the oven (175 C) for about 10 to 15 minutes. Check the directions on the pastry package.

Let cool for a moment and in the mean time, make yourself a cup of tea or coffee. Before serving to yourself (and others, for greater fun), cover with some powdered sugar. It looks even better:

Before a little snow fall...

After...

Then, the best part of all: dig in and enjoy.

(French) Food adventure on Friday - fun with M&M's

My little brother gave me a bunch of recipe books from Paris this Summer. Very sweet, but as a real brother should, never forget your own interest. So, first question: when are you going to make some?  That took a while, but last week I made some time to make choco - sticks with crunch! Another problem was: the lovely little book comes from France. Which means all written in French. I've had some classes, but I needed Google translate anyway. I had lots of fun making them.

Ingredients
I was lazy. So I skipped the sticks-making part. I bought biscuit-sticks instead.

* 1 bag Penut M&Ms
* Dark chocolate (about 75 gr)
* Whipped cream (100 ml)

The only thing I actually made was the choco-paste or in classy French: Ganache aux m&m's (just don't ask me to pronounce it out loud).

Directions

1. Crunch the M&Ms in a blender or mash them (in a zipbag) and chop the chocolate
2. Warm cream, melt chopped dark chocolate.
3. When the chocolate and cream are looking yummy, add the crunched m&ms, and stir a little.
4. Smell the yummy chocolate? Give in to the desire to taste, Your excuse: tasting is important ;).
5. Cover the biscuit sticks with cocolate (it may take a few to get the hang of it)
6. Decorated with some m&m-shell (just crush them with the palm of your hand).
7. Put in the refrigirator for at least two hours.

Enjoy sweet with a crunch!

P.s. I had so much ganache left over that I made some more treats (crunch chocolate covered biscuits)

Food Adventures on Friday - Healthy breakfast.

I learn cooking and baking stuff by doing (with the kind help of recipes found all over the place). So, my time in the kitchen feels like a little adventure sometimes. Today I would like to share my love for breakfst.

Breakfast is important. You probably know that. I love to take my time for breakfast, that gives me the time to enjoy it (and read the paper along with it).
Usually it's just two slices of bread with some jam or or a cup of muesli with milk. And some tea if I feel like it.

Today I enjoyed a little twist on my breakfast (after the photo how to enjoy yourself):

Easy to make yourself:
Find yourself a nice bowl. Pour in some yoghurt, add the kind and amount of muesli you like and add a drip of honey.

Would also be nice with one (or more) slices of roasted bread (with some olive oil or melted butter).
Maybe this weekend on a lazy saturday or sunday...

What's your favorite breakfast?
